India is likely to rest most of its senior players during the T20 series against New Zealand starting less than a week after the final of the T20 World Cup.
It is expected that a youth team will play three T20 matches at home and the team will mainly consist of IPL players. India will play three T20 matches on November 17, 19 and 21 in Jaipur, Ranchi and Kolkata.
After this, two Tests will be played in Kanpur from 25 November and Mumbai from 3 December.
“Most Indian players, seniors have been in a bubble three times in a row for four months now. Probably after the T20 World Cup, you would want them to take a break and freshen up before the tour of South Africa which starts from the end of December.
It is already concluded that Kohli, Bumrah and Mohammed Shami Had to be given a break.
Even Rohit, who has been playing consistently from the home series against England, will need rest but it will have to be seen how the workload management is dealt with after Kohli steps down from the T20 captaincy.
NCA chief Dravid may have U19 job during NZ series:
speculations are being made that Rahul Dravid New Zealand will be the interim coach during the series. The current Ravi Shastri’s tenure ends with the T20 World Cup to be held this month.
However, the NCA chief may need to work out a roadmap for next year’s U19 World Cup with the India Colts team to be selected for the Challengers followed by a four-nation junior meet.
BCCI is confident that they will get a new coach in the coming time.
Before that they would have to remove Madan Lal from the Cricket Advisory Committee as he is above 70 and the age limit mandated by the Lodha Committee reforms.
