Neetu Kapoor And Rishi Kapoor Married in 1980 after several years of courtship. The actor was engaged when she was filming Yaarana with Amitabh Bachchan and eventually tied the knot.

While some pictures from their wedding have been shared by fan accounts on social media platforms, Neetu once opened up about their ceremony in an interview, revealing that she and Rishi were given a wedding gift. A box of stones was found.

Speaking with Rediff in 2003, Neetu said, “There were a lot of gatecrashers at the reception. He was dressed well and was carrying a packed gift box. The security personnel made them think they were guests. Later, we found stones in gift boxes.”

The sangeet and other functions took place at RK House while the wedding ceremony took place at Chembur’s golf course. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan performed her wedding ceremony. Neetu also revealed that she and Rishi fainted on their wedding day.

“I fainted in my marriage and my husband too [Rishi Kapoor]. My lehenga was too heavy. Besides, there were a lot of people. It was too much for me to handle. My husband fainted because he couldn’t take the crowd. He fainted just before getting on the mare [climbing the horse],” she added.

Rishi died in April 2020. He battled cancer for two years before losing the battle. At the time of his death, the Kapoor family issued a statement that read: “He was zealous and determined to live to the fullest through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and movies remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness take over. He is grateful for the love of his fans from all over the world. With his passing away, they will all understand that he would prefer to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.”
