Unable to celebrate the festive season with her family last year, Sayani Gupta is happy that her mother is with her this Durga Puja. “I am unable to celebrate drug puja with my family every year. One tries, but last time it didn’t, I couldn’t go home for it. This year, he is here in Mumbai,” she says.
36-year-old, who is currently filming Four more shots please! Season 3 shows that despite the busy schedule, she makes it a point to celebrate festivals.
“I try to take out time. Durga Puja is something that has to be celebrated. Even when I am shooting, I take time to go to the pandals, have darshan of Maa and give it to Anjali on Ashtami.
Fortunately, that’s what happened pgllight The actor had a schedule break in the four days of Durga Puja. “I was supposed to go out for the shoot, but I was not due to logistical issues. That’s why I am here in Mumbai. I wore a sari, and went to the pandal with a friend’s mother. You have to make time for Durga Puja, and there is no other option,” laughs Gupta, born in Kolkata.
The actor says that this time the impact of the pandemic on the festival was quite evident. She tells us, “This year everything was not that grand and it was mostly private. But we were wearing masks and taking precautions. We also went for bhog.”
When it comes to Durga Puja, there are a lot of things that Gupta is waiting for, but good food is something she doesn’t forget to mention. She says, “Like khichdi, labra, payash, chutney, and to see the face of mother, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh, Kartik, Asura, it is a different feeling to see all together.”
