Rishabh Pant looked very emotional after Delhi Capitals lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League on Wednesday. After scoring only 135/5, the Delhi Capitals’ bowlers kept their team in the hunt with regular strikes at the end of KKR’s chase. KKR lost six wickets for seven runs in just three overs as the match went into the last six balls. Rahul Tripathi hits a six off Ravichandran Ashwin off the last delivery of the match to win the match for KKR. After the match, a disappointed Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant said that his team never stopped believing and tried to stay in the competition for as long as they could.
“Nothing can change after the match. We always believed, and stayed in the game for as long as possible. The bowlers pulled it back. They bowled really well in the middle overs. We were stuck, and Were unable to rotate. Strike,” Pant said in the post-match presentation.
Pant said that he wants to come back stronger next season and change his fortunes.
Pant said, “Hopefully we can be back in the net year for a stronger season. We played really good cricket throughout the season. We stayed together, and looked after each other. Hopefully We will improve next year and come back strongly.”
In the match, Delhi Capitals could only manage a total of 135 for five in their allotted 20 overs after being put in to bat by Eoin Morgan.
In reply, despite a dramatic hiccup, KKR managed to cross the line and make it to the final of IPL 2021.
The two-time champions will now take on MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the final of the T20 league in Dubai on Friday.
