Indian women’s football team will play against two top division teams from Sweden later this month

Buoyed by a win against high-ranked Chinese Taipei in the last match of their international tour, the Indian women’s football team will take on two Swedish teams later this month as the country prepares for next year’s Asian Cup.

The team will play in Sweden against two Top Tier 1 sides Hammarby IF (20 October) and Djrden IF (23 October). India’s head coach Thomas Dennerby was previously at the helm of affairs for both the clubs.

The team has already played four international friendly matches against UAE (4-1), Tunisia (0-1), Bahrain (5-0) and Chinese Taipei (1-0) in the past few weeks in Dubai and Manama.

The best match among them was a win against 40th ranked Chinese Taipei. The worst match for the 57th-ranked Indian team was a loss to Tunisia, which is ranked 77th in the FIFA charts.

Dennerby talked about the quality of the opposition that the Indian women’s team is going to face.

“We will play against Hammarby and Jrgarden, who both play at the top level in Sweden. When we reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2004, I was Jrgarden’s coach,” Dennerby said.

“They are still a very good team, and both matches will be challenging for us.”

The Swede, a UEFA Pro license holder, stressed the work ethic of players who have been training together for almost two months since their camp in Jamshedpur.

“They want to learn, and they work very hard, whether in the gym or on the field. Whatever tasks we set for them, they try to do our best,” Dennerby said.

“The most important thing is that girls understand that they are really good footballers. This helps them to improve their confidence.

“When you play football, you can’t always play with a goal advantage, and they need to learn how to play when they’re down a goal. It’s a different kind of pressure, but they all deal with it. are.”
