“Eternal’s impact on the MCU will be nothing short of redefining the cinematic universe as a whole,” says Marvel chief Kevin Feige in a new feature titled “In the Beginning.” The Eternals are set to introduce a new team of superheroes that existed thousands of years before the arrival of the Avengers, just shunned by human conflicts. So why do they wake up now?
According to the new video, Eternal Explores the making of the MCU itself, and deals with the post-Avengers world. The clip shows footage we’ve already seen, as well as several behind-the-scenes moments.
Angelina Jolie, which portrays Thanos’ cousin Thea, calls Eternal “an epic global film” due to the scale of production. Kumail Nanjiani feels that all the actors in the film look different and make different voices. The feature also shows how a “passive family unit” the team really is.
Eternals traces the story of eponymous creatures who have been hiding on Earth for seven thousand years. Created by entities called Celestials, they were tasked with protecting the planet from the gods. Eternal, the 26th film in the MCU, also hints at further expansion of the universe.
